Oil furnaces

This means oil furnaces need regular cleaning, nozzle replacement, and filter changes to keep running efficiently. When maintained properly, though, an oil furnace can be a reliable and long-lasting heat source, especially in rural areas where natural gas isn’t available.

Heat pumps

Although technically not a furnace, many homeowners consider heat pumps as an alternative heating option. Heat pumps typically last 10 to 15 years, which is a bit shorter than most furnaces.
